I feel like the star rating is the one that will actually be useful for finding great content (downloads, references and rating being three strong rating variables), but likes and other Facebook-like emotions will divert some of the useful ratings away from the stars system. That can be a problem.

I was considering disabling star rating because I feel like it could be used maliciously. I personally prefer likes system over star rating and if I had to choose it would be that one.

One or the other is fine, there is a sort by reaction score, it's just having two that may create noise in rating.

I had to add sort by reaction score because XenForo did not come with that. I wanted to see which system people preferred before disabling the star rating. I might take a poll

Reddit allows up/down votes without a mandatory reply on why. I suggest not requiring that, if you stay with a star system.

I would prefer moving away from a star system, as it doesn't really provide quality feedback.
