Hi everyone, newbie here with my first post. Been trying out VAM for a week and am quite obsessed with it. I just went out and bought a new SSD drive and more RAM to install in my PC to better enjoy VAM. Anyhow, I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions and will try to search first before asking but here's one I couldn't find an answer to: Is there any way to export people characters from an Xbox or PC video game into VAM? Those characters look very similar to some in VAM so I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a way to do this. Thanks!

Edit 09.Sep.2022:
I keep getting DMs from users asking me to share the link I was talking about.
To clarify, if this wasn't obvious enough from the original post, that link includes a metric f*ckton of pirated content!
Not just pirated paid models, also VAM keys and much more.
I will never share / support that. Support the Creators! They are not that hard to find.

Yes there is. But do you have the next year free so you can learn 3D and do it yourself?
Disclaimer: I have never ported a character myself, but I have worked A LOT with DAZ and Blender in the past. So I have some generic experience for 3D stuff.

From the back of my head I remember reading that games based on Unreal Engine can have their content encrypted. So accessing that 3D data (mesh, textures, etc.) can be tricky. However there are some experts that specialized in ripping popular models on sites like https://smutba.se

It is very unlikely that the game characters ending up in VAM have been ripped by the creator. They are probably based on a rip by another person or have been created from scratch.

Doing this yourself is a MASSIVE amount of work and requires knowledge for tools 3D tools like Blender, DAZ and possibly Source Film Maker.
You need to understand how rigging (inverse kinematics), 3D modeling, mesh topology, texturing, shaders and materials (PBR) works to do a proper port. That's just the tip of the iceberg. This is NOT easy!

Unless you want an exotic unpopular character model ported, the chances are high that somebody already did what you want. So keep searching, you will find more! The problem is just that many ported characters do not have their original names to prevent legal issues. That makes them hard to find. Try various searches for "VAM + game name/character name" on a different search engines (DuckDuckGo).

Every popular character from:
Alice, Arkham City, Bayonetta, Bioshock, Borderlands, Dead or Alive, Detroit Become Human, DIsney, Devil May Cry, Dragaon Age, Final Fantasy, Fortnight, Half Life, Halo, Horizon, Left 4 Dead, Life is Strange, Lolipop Chainsaw, Mass Effect, Metal Gear Solid, Mortal Kombat, Nier Automata, Overwatch, Resident Evil, Saints Row, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, The Last of Us, The Witcher, Tomb Raider and Zelda
... has already been ported. Let's not get startet with celebrities and porn stars. ;)

I do have links to massive MEGA collections of ported game-characters, celebrity look a likes and porn stars. It's just that I do not want to advertise this shady stuff here. It is important to support the creators! People in general greatly underestimate the insane amount of work to create these ports.

And yes, there are a lot of low quality ports and people complain about them being 'cheap money grabs'.
To them I say: Do it yourself and you will learn to appreciate even low quality ports! Also, please work for free on your job.

The 'cheap' ports usually just focus on the head and face. They use a generic body and texture on the model and adjust many multiple morphs. Whether the CUA-Hair (Custom Unity Asset) is seen as cheap or stylized is debatable. But it is less realistic and more plastic.

The high quality ports do have one unique morph (or one for body and one for head) for this unique character created in a 3D software like Blender, a custom texture and realistic hair. Miki is know for creating (game) hairstyle.

Are you looking for a specific character?

Hi, also Newbie here :).
Ive got the same Question.

I also can specify what iam searching atm.
I am looking for a good Miranda Model from Mass effect, like this:
https://smutba.se/project/270/

I have no problem with paying creators, in fact i allready support some in Patreon.
But i cant find a decent Miranda Model for VAM, even not a paid one.

is there any way to get the Blender Model into VAM without your mentioned 1 Year free time 😂.

As the OP one idea I've considered is to take a still frame of a video game characters face then use the FaceGen software to create the morphs to bring into VaM where the model could be customized to look fairly close to the video game character. Have not tried this myself yet.

Detroit you say? Does that mean there's a Markus floating around out there in a VAM folder?
