Hi all,

let´s say I wanna make a Visual Novel within VAM. Including camara angles on static Pictures.

Is it possible to prevent/supress camera movment when holding the right and middle mouse button?
And is it also possible to deactivate the (mouse wheel) zoom function?

The static/animated scene or current picture should not go out of focus.
Any Ideas?

The whole movement logic is hard coded. You can't "prevent" it if you have no access to it... which is our case in VAM.

If you're planning on doing a visual novel, so... desktop (since VR would be a nightmare)... then you can completely override the player camera. You have two possibilities:
  • Use Embody, animate/control everything with the window camera as the reference. Then activate embody on the window camera and prevent any control to get "out" of embody. ( but don't forget to give controls to your player to stop/reset/exit the scene )
    • Going this way will allow you to use everything that is interactive by default since it's "like being the player"
  • Go full window camera, when the scene start, use a plugin to...

    • Going that way breaks most of the interactive systems (like the UI, for instance VAMStory), you will need to build plugins and components allowing you to interact with the scene if you use that. For instance a new overlay on the screen to control the story.

Solution
Thx hazmox!

I was already afraid that there will be no easy solution.
But the Embody idea as a workaround might work.
I will try it out.

hazmox idea is gold! Fixing the camera with the embody plugin works like a charm. ;)
