VaM 1.x Are there any ways to quickly make piercing jewelry? The ones I try to make always become deformed or have incorrect materials.

I don't know if it's quick, but the guide below seems fairly simple for making earrings. For rings if you want something quick you could just use a torus mesh from Blender.

To avoid deformation use something like the ClothingRewrapper or ClothingEditor plugin. In the guide below you can also see that just the sim texture can make a difference.

Modifying materials should be easy with the above methods. With a low poly model you could potentially switch out the textures (diffuse+alpha) for different style earrings. With the torus model you can just play around with the basic material settings in VaM.

From what I understand the low poly model is mainly using basic polygons to preserve rigidity in VaM. That guide mentions retopology as a methodology but you don't need to conform to the original model. The goal is just to project the textures and materials from the original model to the low poly model with baking. Having larger area most likely ensures details are not missed without needing to be highly accurate. If I remember correctly any excess parts should be transparent as long as the low poly model starts out with 0% alpha textures before baking.

The guide below might be helpful. It's not specific to earrings but it has a video showing a basic workflow starting with Blender. The video itself is in the "Go to download" link of the guide for some reason.
