About the animated assets

I played around with the editor and the machines from this var:


Some of them are animated and made me wonder about many things.

Can you stop and start animation of an asset from VaM? The button to stop/start all sound and animation doesn't work.

Can you attach other assets to moving parts on animated ones? In this case for example the bicycle pedal machine, can you attach persons feet controls to pedals somehow and have the IK resolve the animation of person? I tried attaching to the asset but there are no sub control points for pedals or anything specific to attach to. And since I couldn't even stop the damned pedals from rotating, I couldn't experiment much.

Are these assets actually animated based on physics so that one gear rotates another one with piston attached and so on or is it all just made to look like? Could I build a simple tricycle asset that could be ridden by a properly animated person with feet and hands attached to it?
