VAR Files Organizer

Other VAR Files Organizer

What does it do?

  • It will move your VAR packages from the AddonPackages directory into folders according to the author name, e.g., JigglyPoof.jiggly_action.1.var will be moved into AddonPackages\JigglyPoof\.
  • If it sees that the VAR already exists in the folder named after the author, it won't touch the pre-existing file, and the file in question will remain in the base AddonPackages folder.
  • It will also move the default VAR packages that are included with the VAM installer, so if you repair VAM, those will reappear. You will also get a duplicate file errors, but that's harmless. Run the VAR Files Organizer application again, then delete the ones that are left behind. Be sure you're only deleting .VAR files.

FAQ

Q - It didn't move one of the files!
A - Check if the file has the .VAR extension. It won't move any files that aren't VARs. If the file is indeed a .VAR, then please kindly let me know here.

Q - Can you make it do XYZ?
A - Let me know what you want to see it do, and I will consider implementing it!

Q - I think it's broken.
A - Please state what you were expecting it to do and look for the log file in your AddonPackages folder and share the output here.

Q - This cured my impulse to organize everything; how can I show my appreciation?
A - Just drop a nice review!

Q - Are you kidding?
A - I am but I'm not.

This tool is amazing thank you! Only two recommendations, one is to remind people that if they already have folders it will not touch those or the VAR's in them. Second is if it gets stuck on a var, check the log for the file it is stuck on, remove the file, stop the organizer and restart it.

Did you have a VAR it got stuck on? Thanks for your kind words. I will remind folks more plainly, perhaps at the beginning of the log output.
