Sarah always finds a way to get the last word whenever we tease each other. It starts as a joke, but after a few conversations, I’m looking forward to seeing that confident smile almost as much as hearing what she’ll say next.​

A few days later, I spot her in a small bookstore browsing the shelves. When she catches me watching, she just smirks.
“Still trying to think of a good comeback?” she teases, clearly enjoying the fact that she’s always one step ahead.​

I walk over, determined to finally leave her speechless. But when we end up standing face to face, both grinning,
I forget the clever line I had ready.​

“Well?” she asks, stepping a little closer.​

For once, neither of us seems particularly interested in getting the last word.​
