Derelict City Scene

Hi all, I am very glad to present you a new scene environment which is pushing the envelope of what can be rendered in VaM, I believe.
I wanted to have a large background for my latest character and came up with the idea of a SciFi themed city at night. The main scene was rebaked with custom lightmapping in Unity to make it darker than the original and I created custom emission maps for the surrounding buildings.

Preview: Derelict City Scenes | Virt-A-Mate Hub

How to use: The assetbundle comprises of several assets that are listed at the end. You’ll find 4 variations of the main environment:
  • Derelict City
  • Derelict City Midnight (darker setup)
  • Derelict City with vents. Includes steam particles on both sides of the default spawn point
  • Derelict City Midnight with vents, same as above

Colliders: To reduce the load on your system, collision is enabled on the road floor only and on the top parts of the motorcycle.

Lighting
The scene includes a number of real time Unity lights on the sides of the road. The environment is better rendered with 8 pixels in your VaM general settings. Despite extenstive testing, the real-time lights on the right of the scene show in Unity but do not show in VaM.

If you wish to light on the back scene, select the CUA Asset Unity Light and pick “Unity Light” in the drop-down menu.

Lighting rig
The scene is preloaded with one of n00rp presets. When loading your character, I suggest you parent the Light Rig subscene to the character’s abdomen so the light rig follows your character’s poses.

Lights attached to Assets
  • VaM Spot light attached to the motorcycle. Intended to be used as a back contour light for the main character.
  • One Point Light attached to the cute drone. Can be used to change the hue of the drone

Skybox
The preconfigured Skybox in the scene is from (1) Assets - Unityassetstore - 10 more free Skybox Asset bundle | Virt-A-Mate Hub

Final note: You may have to rescale the motorbike asset depending on your character’s size. I am using a scaling of 0.64 in my screens.

Awesome work! Now we can have a better adult themed experience in Night City than the game itself offers.

Great! Quite a lot of assets are created as for a hype after such a hated game. In private, I fell in love with Night City... but it's still weird.

Agree with you. The game is quite a bummer after so much hype. On the other hand, it is making for good memes. Had much laugh when watching the glitches on Youtube.
I hope all the gamers who bought it will see improvement over time

Looks great and runs well. (It's an environment asset though, not a scene)

Hi Everlaster,
First and foremost, thank you so much for your positive review.
I would argue that an asset is the bare object while his package comes as several assets put together in a coherent setting. Plus the default scene comes with a default lighting rig which is helpful to get nice renders from the start. :)
