• Happy Holidays Guest!

We want to announce that we will be working at reduced staffing for the holidays. Specifically Monday the 23rd until Jan 2nd.

This will affect approval queue times and responses to support tickets. Please adjust your plans accordingly and enjoy yourselves this holiday season!

  • Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.
Light Options

Plugins Light Options

Allows configuring some Unity Light options that the default UI doesn't have.

The default Light UI in VAM doesn't show all of the available parameters, and some aren't fully set up. For example, the 'point bias' will affect shadowBias for point lights but not spot lights.

This plugin surfaces some of these settings for finer-grained control.

I recommend reading through Unity's shadows overview for a high-level overview of what these settings do.

Thanks to @WeebUVR for the idea.

Usage
  • Add to a Light atom or as a session/scene plugin.
  • Configure using plugin UI.

Currently supports:
  • shadowCustomResolution: In some cases where lights are far away, raising this to a high value can make a noticeable difference.
    • Is capped by Unity based on machine resources.
    • Works best with spotlights. Less effect with point and directional.
    • 'Very High' shadow settings are at 12.
    • 1691170035119.png1691177840099.png
  • shadowBias: Shadow caster surfaces are pushed by this world-space amount away from the light. Lower values result in higher fidelity shadows, but going too low produces artifacts.
  • shadowNormalBias: Similar to shadowBias, but only affects directional lights.
  • shadowNearPlane: This determines how close to the light shadows will stop being rendered from an object.

This is absolutely invaluable thanks so much! Have you considered implementing a toggle for light source reflections? if even possible

This plugin seems to combine very nicely with hazmhox's VaMTweaks, as well as with the most recent version of the AnimeCelShader from HuntingSuccubus. Shadows improve considerably with the best settings.

I swear, lighting/shading in first-gen VaM just keeps getting better and better. It's crazy how much this application has evolved since the beta days, and it's largely thanks to all you generous talented types. Thank you.

Wow, that's amazing! Each time you make a breakthrough, I wonder if the next time you can solve the issue of clothes and bodies colliding and penetrating each other? I'm really looking forward to it!

Game changer for shadow quality. Greatly improves face self shadows and close cloth shadows which were a major limitation.

Nice one. I had a script myself for the Near Clip Plane, but this one just replaced it.
