Hi all, I'm no texturing expert and I was wondering how would I go about editing an already available texture to blend with built in skins, I know they are not licensed for redistribution and don't have any idea of where to dig to find them in the first place, but is there a way to have them as reference or baselines without breaking its licensing?

The built-in skins in Vam can't be extracted from the game. That was part of the deal with Daz when Meshed bought the rights to use them in the game. You would be better off starting with some of the many CC-BY textures available on the hub. Those you can extract, modify and redistribute. You might also look into just creating decals and applying them with the Decal Maker plugin. That gets you out of the tricky mess that having different UVs for different models creates. Decals can be placed over any UV.

Yeah that's what I thought but wanted to ask anyway just in case, thing is some of the built in are really good but wanted to apply different face textures for variety, guess I'll stick with fully custom or deal with the seam, thanks.

With different complete face textures, there can be an issue with seams. That's why I suggested decals, because you feather them away to 0 at the edges, so they could work on a variety of skins. There are plenty of makeup decals done that way. There are lots of textures by Riddler, RenVR, Damarmau and others that people base customized sets on.

yeah yeah its also a viable option, only thing with decal is they dont work if i want to change skintone afterwards but i guess is the best option for less noticable seams

This could also help (you can adjust to new skin tones easily):

Might be really useful, going to check it out thanks

I know you said you are aware of the licensing. But for posterity: if anybody plans on using FaceBlend, you can't use the internal skins of VAM unless you licence them. So if you are using this to blend anything else than custom CC-BY skins, you cannot redistribute them.

yeah i didnt miss that, looking to use custom textures im allowed to edit and redistribute, thanks
