Stopped in to see if anything has changed... not really. VAM 2.x is still vaporware after several years. I have noticed that the quality and control of AI video is improving exponentially on retail graphics cards, so much that this legacy way of creating content and interactions will be obsolete in another year.

Vam was great and it still may have legs for a short time, but the realism and fluidity of AI generated video is next level to this old school stuff.

Bro, wait till AI comes for your job. Platforms like Vam offer a more interactive and personalized experience. Customization is quick and real time. With a video heck want a bigger bum? Wait for the render. In a world flooded with free adult content, users still choose VAM for its interactivity. AI is just another medium, like VR. Both will eventually merge, but they'll still be just that: mediums.

The best part about VAM is that it's not video, things happen in real-time.
If you want to be in the static world of videos, go play videos.

I got offline (running locally on my pc) version of Hunyuan Video about... a year ago it feels like, right around the time i got LTX Video and realized Hunyuan was better and just really, really good. Has there been enough update to an offline version since? Hunyuan was so good and close to real that i didn't bother keeping up to date with AI video generation updates.

But yeah they are pretty different and not totally fair to compare the two, though i do understand the feeling lately of i'd rather just do AI video generation because its really damn good.

This is a great troll bait and shows how little to no effort you put in this.
The moment this thread gets out of hands, I'm gonna lock it ( just warning ahead so that no one is surprised ).

And in VR! We're a long way from being able to AI generate a VR scene you can move around in.

I can see making an argument that AI will soon replace recorded video of actors, but it's not coming for Vam any time soon.

While this smells of a trolling post, there's some valid question behind it.
My question is what you looking from in VaM 1.x and what you expect from VaM 2.0?
  • If youre desktop user and you use VaM for 2d video, maybe AI generated video can be replacement with better graphics than what Vam 2 can make. But that will always be 2d video.
  • Many like me use VaM coz of VR, and the freedom and interactive options it offers. 3D not 2D - it has an extra whole third dimension for movement. Even AI VR video with the most realistic graphics can't do that, and if realism is the issue - that already exist with infinite amount of real life VR porn. You'll probably need a nuclear power plant to run AI machine to create realtime playable 4K VR video at 60+fps.

With VAM2 I expect:
  • smaller impact when using multiple persons but a number still within reason, or options to have secondary fake persons with some flexibility
  • better clothing/hair collision - clipping
  • "easy" to extend functionalities or layers for different needs
  • more titties
Often with videos I tried to change the person or move the camera somewhere and then realized that's not VAM 😅

People talking about "AI is better than yours" don't expect nothing besides trolling anybody willing to discuss the massive bait.

First, AI is linear media... Second, it shows since at least 2/3 years, the massive blandness of generated content. Today, the moment you hit enter for the prompt, unless you built yourself a very specific model with very specific inputs, you get the same shit over and over and over again.

AI is the McDonalds of entertainment. It brings nothing new to the table, and the ingredients are always the same. But just like McDonalds, people will dig it and try to convince you it's wonderful entertainment.

This is the console war, console / pc war, VHS / betamax war, HDDVD/BR war all over again. Don't waiste time on the subject, nothing good (or useful) will come out of this.

You know that the VHS/Beta war was decided by the pr0n industry, right? The VHS camp was offering high speed duplication machines for rental use, Sony (Beta) was not. The adult film industry, having just been declared free speech, said, "Mine!"

As noted, AI produces a static product based on a prompt. Once it's done, it's done. You want to change it? Start over. Making something look a certain way, or swapping out characters is better done in an app like Vam, where the scene creator or end user is in direct control of the content, and the result is immediate.

Everyone knows that urban legend, but pretty much no one tries to understand what "Urban legend" means. As you see by still saying that... that myth does not want to die :p

( if you look for history on that, or actual proof, pretty much no one can prove that affirmation, most random reddit threads are filled with sentences using "may" / "probably" / "could have"... and most somewhat serious articles always talk about myth and explain that VHS marketing was what tilted the industry in favor of VHS )

I think there is no comparison between them as AI gen is mostly fixed 2D video, VaM is 3D VR. So no war :giggle: only helpful coexistence.

AI generation is mostly what you say, but it is getting better. Now we get ControlNet and contextual model that make video based on input reference like character photo or human movement video. See recent "Wan 2.1 Animate". So if people only want to make 2D porn videos, in few years, they can input character photo, outfit, hair etc reference similar to how we have look, clothing, hair in VaM and create videos. So maybe not McDonalds, but Subway of porn. Still somehwat shit, but customizable with more control. Even now some pople make great stuff with Loras and controlnets, but need lot of work and trial error.

Or some people can enhance what they make in VaM, like the example of AI improved realistic VaM photos and videos people create these days. Customized and targeted AI can make VaM 2.x better. Like we have DLSS, someone ports neural rendering stuff to improve graphics etc.

But for me VR is main thing with VaM and that's not going anywhere with AI generation soon. Can only get improved using some AI feature at best.

Lol, thanks for the clarification. I think it is still true that it was Sony against the rest of the world. Sony lost. Note that the Beta format and transport lived on for years after the home video war ended. Beta Cam SP was the industry standard for news media field recording, and industrial video production. It had special metal particle tape and special heads. Then digital took over...
