Did you link it to the correct path? What is your folder path?
"C:\program files\virtual desktop streamer\virtualdesktop.setup.exe" "F:\vam\VaM.exe"
Vam is in my f drive in the folder marked "vam". When I try to use the bat file it opens 2 command windows one right on top of the other but closes them both straight away and nothing happens.
I have the steamer app open and my quest already running and connected to my computer.

Yes it's correct the command windows are supposed to open and close. I'm not sure but you can try making it case sensitive (Eg Program Files and not program files)

You are launching it from within Virtual Desktop while in VR correct...?

I've found the issue, I wrote "VirtualDesktop.setup.exe" but it should be "VirtualDesktop.Streamer.exe". Issues fixed now, thanks.

I'm having trouble with mixed reality with Virtual Desktop. I'm confuse at which program I'm suppose to get?
The Steam Virtual Desktop just launches SteamVR.

The standalone version of virtual desktop. Not the steam version...

I am using method B and my SteamVR still launches every time I use the batch file, I follow the guide the the teeth and checked over it many times.

Need more details
What headset, what runtime, what VR software (VD, Airlink, Steamlink? etc)

I have a Meta Quest 3, and used the Meta Link cable. Does this method only works with Wireless link?
No that is correct it works with link. Send pictures of your bat file

Also if you are using Link, your runtime must be set to Meta Quest Link in the settings

@thinoreos Excellent guide!
I am wondering however if it's possible to change controller bindings for VaM if we use option A: the standalone version of VD.

I have searched far and wide but everyone keeps saying to open the "VD steam" overlay to change the bindings... but the standalone version of VD does not have this overlay, does this mean it's impossible to change the controller bindings?

So far I tried editing the binding_.json files in "\VaM\Assets\VaMAssets\SteamVR_Bindings" but doing so changed nothing for VD standalone controller bindings in VaM.

There are currently a couple of default buttons/bindings that need to be removed in order for VD standalone to be a viable option.
For example, simply touching the A or B button, not pressing, engages certain unwanted functions, as well as the backgrip button doing the "remote grab" function needs to be removed as it constantly interrupts with normal controller usage.

As far as I know the only way to change controller bindings is through SteamVR, which here we are trying to get rid off.

Not sure what you mean by controller bindings being weird, it's almost the exact same as with SteamVR on default

Yeah, I changed these defaults and was hoping the same would be possible when we use VD.

Surely there has to be some kind of config file, or line of code somewhere that decides which controller button does what when we use VD?

I personally don't know, you can try asking on the discord and maybe Meshed will answer, if you find an answer let us know here

Excellent guide. Worked perfectly. I see some people are having issues with renaming the file. To solve this, make sure you have ”show file extensions” on in windows. If your file shows up as .txt and you can edit the .txt it works.

Now, I’ve got a slight issue now that I am running VD och quest 3 without steam. The controller scheme shows up under the menu in scenes and I can’t for the life of me figure out how to hide it! Any help is appreciated.
