Information about the User Preferences tab in the Main UI
User Preferences / Performance Tab “Quick Quality Settings” are presets you can use to quickly boost your FPS or improve the visual quality of the VaM experience. There are a variety of choices from “Ultra Low” to “Max” quality. User Preferences / Performance 2 Tab “Memory Optimizer” New to update 1.21 this panel was added as a convenient way to quickly see how much memory is currently being used and then to trigger a memory optimization if needed. ”Optimize Memory Usage On Scene Load” If enabled, skins, clothing, hair, and morphs that aren’t in use will be unloaded when a new scene is loaded. This can prevent VaM from crashing if your system runs low on memory. Recommended to turn on if your physical memory is 16GB or lower. User Preferences / Navigation Tab This Tab is for VR navigation and has no effect when playing on Desktop. “Disable All Navigation” Locks the VR player in place. Disabling Teleporting, Grabbing and Free movement. “Disable Grab Navigation” Turns off the ability to Grab move with the VR controls. “Disable Teleport” Turns off VR teleportation. “Disable Teleport During Possess” Disables VR teleportation while you are possessing a Person Atom. This is “on” by Default. “Teleport Allow Rotation” Allows you to set the direction you will be facing when teleporting. “Grab Navigation Position Multiplier” Increases or Decreases how far you move yourself through the world when Grabbing in VR. “Grab Navigation Rotation Multiplier”...
User Preferences / VR1 Tab “Mirror to Desktop” Toggles the view from your VR headset to display on your Desktop. “Head Collider” Toggles the collision of your VR headset On/Off. “UI Side: Left/Right” Allows you to swap the side that the “Main UI” is displayed. VR Only. Main UI ”World UI Distance” Changes the distance that the “Startup Up Screen”, “Scene Browser” and “Template Browser” are displayed from the player inside the VR playspace. User Preferences / VR2 Tab “Leap Motion” specific options As of the 1.21.0.4 update the Leap Motion dll was updated to the Gemini compatible version which brings better tracking. If you are using Leap Motion, please update to Gemini. "Enabled" New with 1.22. A user preference to enable Leap Motion system. Note this preference is off by default to try to fix issue when VaM is firewalled which makes the plugin consume a lot of system resources. This option also allows those with Leap to disable it in a manner that is remembered on reload. “Pinch Grab” Toggles the ability to pinch grab atom nodes and clothing. User Preferences / Security Tab The security tab is where you can choose what content is allowed to run within VaM. By default all of these options are Off. This information is initially presented to you on the “First TIme User Startup Page” and you must opt in before running any third party scripts, addons or accessing online content from within VaM. “Each of the settings on this page have implications for application security and privacy.
