Person Hair
“Name Space” By default this will say “Person”. This will display the name of the currently selected Person Atom. You can rename it here as well.
”Tags Filter…(comma separated)” You can search for a specific hairstyle based on it’s tags by typing in here. Hair styles will only display after the entire tag name has been typed. A complete list of available tags can be found by clicking on the “Tags Filter…” button.
”Name Filter” You can search for a specific hairstyle by name in this field. Relevant hairstyles will appear as you type the name.
”Creator Filter” This drop down menu will display all the names of the Creators whose hairstyles you have installed.
“All” will display every hairstyle available.
By default on install you will see these names for female hair creators, “JayC Re-animator, MeshedVR, NoStage2, RenVR, and VaMDeV” As you install new custom hair the creator’s names will be added to this list.
If you create your own custom hair you will find your name here too.

”Tags Filter…” This button will open the “Region Tags Filter” panel as shown.
It will display all the currently installed tags and creator tags in your hair library.
”Region Tags Filter” These are the built-in global tags available in VaM. It gives you the option to filter by location by body region.”arms, face, full body, genital, head, legs and torso” You cannot add any tags to this field.
”Type Tags Filter” Are built-in tags for “long or short” hair. You cannot add any tags to this field.
”Other Tags Filter” This is the location where you will find all creator added tags. Filter tags added when you create custom hair will show up here.
”New To Old” This drop down field gives you several options for displaying the order of hair in your library. New to Old organises the newest created or installed hair first and the oldest content will be last.
”A to Z” Organizes hair alphabetically based on name.
”Z to A” Organizes hair in reverse alphabet based on name.
”Old to New” Organises the oldest created or installed hair first and the newest content will be last.
”Creator” Organises hair alphabetically based on the Creator's name.
”Custom Only” Displays only custom created hair. This is really only relevant when “Show Legacy” is also toggled on.
”Sim Only” Displays only hair that has sim functions. All Hair Creator created hair styles are considered Sim. Generally this will only hide legacy mesh hair.
”Latest Only” Toggling this on will hide any old versions of hair that have been updated by the author and released in a var file.
”Active Only” This is a handy toggle to display only the active hairstyles on the currently selected person atom.
”Remove All” This button will remove any active hairstyles on your selected person atom.
”Show Legacy” By default this button is turned on, this hides the legacy Mesh hairstyles and previous sim versions of hair that originally shipped with VaM. These are still included with the install so that legacy scenes are not broken.
”Missing Tags” This button will display all hairstyles that have not had tags applied to them. Allowing you to further organise your library by adding your own tags.
”Show Hidden” This button will display any hairstyles that have been marked “hide” on the hairstyles “user prefs” panel.
VaM hair has been through several different versions since VaM was first released. Originally there was only Mesh based hair that was imported from DaZ studio models. MeshedVR, not being happy with the effect, created a couple iterations of Sim hair before creating the current custom hair system as it now is in V1 of VaM. Each version of Hair has its own UI interface as shown below.
Mesh based hair is one of the Legacy Hairs hidden by default with the ”Show Legacy” button in the interface.
These are the oldest versions of hair available in VaM.
“Ponytail” is an example of one of the legacy mesh Hairs.
”Customize” clicking on this button opens an interface specific for mesh based hair.
