I'm assembling myself a new PC.
I will use it for 1440p gaming (with potential 4k in the not-so-near future) and VaM in VR with meta2.
My initial plan was 4080s (1350$) and i7 14700k (390$), since my budget is not limitless.
Then, I found a slightly lower priced 4090 Asus TUF (1750$) and i9 14900KF tray (490$), and now I'm rethinking my options.

I read that 4090 may be overkill for VaM, since CPU will be a bottleneck.
Does it make sense to take i9 instead of i7?
I know that VaM will not utilize all cores, but it seems that i9 single core performance is also slightly better than i7.
The question is, is it worth it (in the context of VaM specifically)?
Or maybe I still should take 4090 since the difference with 4080s is 400$ now, instead of almost x2.
Or I should stick with my initial plan, which is not so painful for my budget.
I'm pretty sure I will be ok in 1440p, but I don't want to lose significant FPS in VaM VR (if there will be significant FPS loss in VaM).

i have an i9 with the 4090, but i have only had headaches with this rig... constant blue screens, crashes and freezes... when it works it is lovely but in my case it seldomly does for more than 20 minutes straight... the gpu however is great for ai and works lovely with VOXTA.... i may buy a cheap used rig to run vam at this point to be honest.
