lol, “I’ve dodged that” — that was a good one.
You on the other hand created a presistant plugin that people using 24/7, never earned a penny.
Because of two reasons:
- Creative freedom. I don't want to have to report to anybody. If I want to work 6 months on a scene, I can do so. With a patreon or even simply a donation system, people expect to have results. I mean, even without it, you clearly are the living proof that you think you can eventually come, and ask for a consistent result/update flow. I'm obviously saying this kindly, you are kind, respectful and all... but you get my point : )
- People don't pay. And my biggest statistical approach on this is on game changing plugins massively used by the community and several numbers I had from well know "big" creators I discussed with over the years. Most creators having created and supported them barely made a serious "side income". Acid at some point, was not even at a 200$ a month for a plugin downloaded millions of times and used across hundreds of scenes.
So sacrificing my freedom over 200 bucks a month is absolutely not worth it.
Sadly, I suppose you realize it yourself, you can make money with "fuck and dump" content ( looks, mocaps ). You can't with plugins (no matter how widly they are used).
so I’m wondering why everything is still on hold
Because I'm not here to be
only the VAMMoan guy... and litterally don't want to spend my days on that. I'm surprised it isn't already obvious after my first couple of answers ^^
I want to do VAMStory, I want to do enviros, and VFX, SFXs libraries... scenes, collabs and more. Have fun. Not make this a mindless job that will most definitely burn me out at some point.
The real reason on why I'm on VAM today is not even because of the porn... it's because I can do whatever I want in a somewhat immersive sandbox. I can have fun myself on litterally dozen of different creative systems, express myself in scenes and bring cool stuffs to the community on top of that.
And then you got the second part to this: I'm in the rare creators that still support plugins that are like "legacy" (if I can say so... super old if you prefer another way of saying it), and I'm trying to keep that flow. And I'm not gonna on top of all that work, for all my plugins, have to organize, manage and motivate people for a community driven contribution for voices. This is a lot of work (again), and could like anything else... completely fail. Which would be on my end, a complete, pure and simple loss of time.
I’m sure the community would step up.
I've been here since the first alpha. Your hub sub is from 2 years ago... but maybe you were here way before I don't know. Trust me when I tell you that, the community stepping up is probably a biased perception of the reality. People pay for mocap, people pay for looks. Beyond that, it's unlikely to ever see the community doing mad things if it requires more than "hit that discord emoji"... at least, from my experience since VAM exists. People could prove me wrong, but it would be quite surprising to see that changing any day... especially at the level required to push several new voices for VAMM2.
If I'm doing such diverse content it's basically because there were gaps in the content creation on VAM. Gaps that were never filled over the years. We're in the "if you want something done well, do it yourself" situation here. This shows that, beyond a handful of extremely motivated people trying to push the boundaries of VAM, the "average" is not gonna step up (no matter the reasons, lack of technical knowledge, money, time, ideas... whatever)
But, I will never go against people trying to achieve this. My offer still stands, the documentation for creating voices can be made available, and if anyone was suddenly trying to bring the community together, make voices libraries, I would absolutely support the idea.
As long as my only involvement in this is giving the doc, grabbing the final package, putting it in my project and building the final bundle.
This is all I can offer

What can I say! I'm a living moron who loves to give free means to people to get a boner!
