supposing you can at least load vam default scene using desktop mode, you MUST post more details about your hardware and of course, about your vam folder install (how many vars did you save? is vam folder in a correct with not-restricted admin priviledge directory... etc. etc. ? did you try to repair your vam by that vam installer file you were using to install it?). ... and remember this for your future vam fun : each time you start vam after a periodical cleaning of your vam-cache (i do this manually, mostly after a long period testing many trash vars I find in the hub), your first game load event will need a relatively long period depending on many factors.. disk speed, number of files saved, cpu/ram/gpu specifics.

And I tried downloading another version of Vam in a different folder to try it out (without adding any new resources), but I could still load Atom as usual.

your hardware seems very good (excellent processor!), with a new fresh vam installed you should get absolutely no issues (at least with desktop mode), and the default scene (with the original custom person-girl) should load in some few seconds even if you have only a very old slow old sata hard disk.

unless your windows system (and also vam playing) is paying consequences for wrong settings (custom bastard anti virus, bastard extra anti-malware, tragical applications multi-tasking always on, back-up programs killing your pc performance etc. etc.) for wich you need a very good (if you trust him) experienced friend who can help you and "repair" directly at home your pc.

ps: if you try in vam discord (help channel) probably you can get better help and solutions with real time answering if you are lucky. Have a nice day mate!

trừ khi hệ thống windows của bạn (và cả chơi vam) đang phải gánh chịu hậu quả cho các cài đặt sai (chống vi-rút tùy chỉnh, chống phần mềm độc hại bổ sung, các ứng dụng thảm khốc luôn bật đa tác vụ, các chương trình sao lưu làm giảm hiệu suất máy tính của bạn, v.v.) Bạn cần một người bạn có kinh nghiệm rất tốt (nếu bạn tin tưởng anh ấy), người có thể giúp bạn và "sửa chữa" trực tiếp máy tính của bạn tại nhà.
