Ultimate VR Performance Guide for VAM - The ultimate VR performance guide for Virt-A-Mate, boost your FPS to the moon

Welcome to the Ultimate VR Performance Guide, this is a list of performance increasing tips and tricks I have accumulated over the years

What is this?
It is a list of methods to launch to increase your VR performance. VR is not well optimized in VAM at all, so we have to use methods.
This is personally how much performance increase I get in VR, Default 68 FPS, Performance 79 FPS, Performance + Spacewarp 90 FPS (45x2)...

Read more about this resource...

Thank you for this!
Any good settings recommendation for Oculus Quest (2)? I watched an online guide quickly a few years ago but I don't understand half of the settings and if they harm or not my performances.

No worries, yup just follow Part 1 it's all for standalone headsets like Quest 2. If you have any specific questions about it you can let me know

Oh, I meant all the settings in the Debug Tool. In part 1 you just talk about how to put Asynchronous Spacewarp to Auto. Because again, I remember adjusting alot of settings in this tools without having any knowledge about what all the settings do.

Yeah, if you don't know what you're doing just set ASW on Auto and you're done. This will effectively "double" your fps. If that's all you want to do then that's it, you don't need to touch anything else

Everything else is for more advanced users. If you really want the explanation of each item in the Debug tool let me know which one and I will explain them

But if you want the long explanation for ASW:
Asynchronous Spacewarp is a framerate smoothing technique that helps maintain a smooth VR experience, even when the system can't render frames at the required rate. It predicts and interpolates "fake frames", especially when VAM is dropping frames. For example if you set your FPS at 90hz, and VAM is only rendering at 60-70fps, it will cap it to 45FPS (90 divided by 2) and then multiply it by 2x with "fake frames", therefore you are now getting 45fps x2 aka 90fps of "fake frames"
