Hey everyone,

I've got a question. I've seen alot of step family content on the Hub. Its weird i thought any type of family content like step mom, step son, step sis, content is a red fag. Coz doesn't come under incest according to the content guideline policy's? I'm confused ;/ If someone can explain it to me that would be great.

Incest

The hub does not permit content that implies incest, whether it is created under the banner of "roleplay" or not.
To clarify what is considered incestuous content on the Hub, please consider these guidelines:

• Any content where the characters are contextually given family roles may be rejected. For example: "Father / Daughter" , "Family", "Brother and Sister", "Cousins", etc. While "Step-parent" and "Step-sibling" are a somewhat grey area, know that if your scene includes "Step-family" members then the moderation staff will closely consider the context and appearance of your scene. If it looks like incest to us, then the "Step" label won't be enough.
• Any content implying family relation where the characters have an obviously large age gap may be rejected. "Step-father and teen step-daughter" may be rejected by our team. When in doubt, make sure all of your characters are clearly adults.
• Obviously -- any content where any character appears underage will be rejected, which would also violate our policies on depiction of minors.
• Any content that appears to be incest given context, but is given a title of "roleplay" will still be rejected.

Mods don't check every resource that is uploaded in the Hub. If there's a resource that goes against the policies, then report it and they'll make a decision about it.

The general definition of incest is sexual or romantic relations between immediate family members, possibly including first cousins. Those would be blood relatives. Step family are not blood relatives. Step family relations are usually OK, but it's all subjective. What seems to be common here is the step mom fooling around with the adult step son. Having a step dad hitting on the teenage step daughter would probably cross the line. Again, it depends on context, and the interpretation of the mods when they look at it. It never hurts to ask one of the mods about a scene concept.

This never made sense to me. These are pixels, they don't have blood nor relationships. It's a simulation stripped off everything that would make it bad IRL, and in the absence of these bad things, it becomes non-harmful.

I mean, people don't treat killing civilians in GTA as murderer, so I don't see why suddenly having a "mom and son" scene in a fictional game becomes something different, measured by real life standards.

The reason we wrote the policy that way is to make it clear that just because you put "step dad" in your description, does not mean we will allow the content.

The same principle applies everywhere on the Hub. We don't allow underage content just because someone writes "she is over 18" in the description.

We intentionally do not publish an exact definition of what is allowed. Any time we draw a precise line, that line stops being a limit and becomes a target: people build content that sits right on it, technically satisfies the wording, and ignores the reason the policy exists. We then end up arguing over wording instead of looking at the content.

Instead, we evaluate each resource as a whole: what it depicts and the overall impression it gives a reasonable viewer. Content built to work around a policy is treated the same as content that violates it.

If you're unsure whether something is acceptable, you're welcome to ask us before you post. But if the question is "what is the minimum I need to change to get this approved," that usually means the content is already on the wrong side of the policy.

In some of those locations, creating virtual/3D/animated sexual content of a certain theme is illegal and can result in severe penalties. We make our rules to protect our fans, as well as to make sure that our website does not get blocked in those countries.

If you're just discussing the legal side of things, we have no comment. There are some pretty stupid laws out there right now concerning adult content that leave us shaking our heads.

It’s actually very simple, Virt A Mate may not want to be associated with certain themes, subjects, or types of content, and I can understand why they would make that decision. It isn’t just about the possibility to being blocked or restricted in certain countries. There is also a much broader issue surrounding reputation, public perception, and the long term image of the platform and its developers. Once a product becomes publicly associated with a controversial or particularly sensitive theme, that association can be difficult to separate from the product itself. Even if the developers have no direct involvement with that content, people outside the community may not make that distinction. To an outsider, the association alone can be enough to create a negative perception of the software or its creators.

There is also the possibility of attracting unwanted attention from activist groups, organizations, media outlets, or other groups that strongly oppose certain types of content. That could result in campaigns against the software, public criticism, pressure on hosting platforms or payment providers, or attempts to have the product restricted or removed from certain services. In other words, the concern isn't necessarily limited to government censorship or country specific bans but there can be significant social, commercial, and reputational consequences as well. From the developer's perspective, distancing Virt A Mate from certain themes can therefore be a way of protecting the wider project. They may want to maintain a particular public image, avoid unnecessary controversy, and reduce the risk of the platform becoming known primarily for something they don't want it to represent. Whether everyone agrees with those decisions is another matter, but from a business and reputation management perspective, it is understandable why they might prefer to draw clear boundaries around what they are willing to be associated with.

Yeah I am referring to the double standards of society and laws here. I understand it from a business pov.
