Might be a longshot to ask since this asset hasn't been updated in years, but would it be possible to make this asset with collision?

Is it possible? Yes.
Will I do it? Nope

Collision is to inprecise in VaM to be of any use. Not to mention the performance cost.
You will always get better results with just careful placement and animation.
