Question Noob question. About adding person atom into a scene

So, to add a new person into my scene I select the plus button from the menu and add a new atom which is a person.

The problem with this method is that only a generic looking woman comes up and then I need to import the appearance presets from the character that I want and the result is always different from the original character that I intended to add.

Is there a way to select the character that I want from my "all flattened" folder and not add the generic one?

The standard method is to add the generic one, then load an appearance preset. It doesn't work the way you describe. You could save an empty local scene with a character you like in it, then do a merge load of that scene into another scene. This could cause conflicts with the lighting or other things in each scene.

Ok but when I load the apperance present to the generic woman the result appearance is different from the one I can see by opening the character separately. Even if unselect the merge box I can never make the generic woman look the same as the ones I open in a separately file.

I just wanted an option to add a specific atom person into a scene.

How to do this merge load that you describe?

An appearance preset is supposed to completely redefine what the character looks like. It stores the morphs, hair, skin, and clothes. Now, if a character came in a scene with post processing enabled, it could look a lot different in your scene, but the character should be the same. You'll have to post screenshots.

If you go to the scene load menu, there is an option to merge load scene.
