Question looking for hairstyles like the legacy ones, or that have low performance impact

VAM is pretty much unplayable on Mac with most modern hairstyles, not sure what the technological term is but so far the only ones I can use to get a stable framerate are the legacy styles. I saw a post somewhere talking about how the legacy hairstyles were basically just tests before better tech was found, wondering if any creators still use that old tech or if anyones got advice for this niche issue.
 
You can go for CUA "hairs" for very low performance hits, accompanied by being crappy hair but still something on the head.
Naturally, the real solution is to not use a Mac as that's not supported.

Maybe it helps to adjust hair physics settings? At least worth a try I guess. Here are some suggestions for that:

You can go for CUA "hairs" for very low performance hits, accompanied by being crappy hair but still something on the head.
Naturally, the real solution is to not use a Mac as that's not supported.
yeah I'm thinking CUAs are probably my best bet. I'm out of town and only have access to mac, when I'm back home this isn't an issue

it's a miracle its even playable (except for the hair problem)

tried messing around with all those settings, but no matter what it tanks fps to <10. I think whatever system newer hairs use just isn't compatible at all for silicon processors
