I categorically insist that you use the Unity Asset Multi Vamifier 2 plugin. Without it, you will get an unpredictable result that will most likely greatly disappoint you.

Are you using the updated shadow library in unity? Vamifier is still useful in certain situations but with the updated library, shadows and lighting should properly affect the asset.

See step 6 in this tutorial by hazmhox. You only have to do it once and it fixes it for every asset you create afterwords:
