Clothes and hairstyles included are hub hosted anyway.
Having few extra dependencies is better than having duplicate entires inside catalogs.
Is there a particular reason why you can't reference original packages? Is it bloated vam client? Are you extracting vars? 🤔
 
It's mainly for future-proofing in case some of those resources go missing from the hub. Those things that are duplicates are resources I am planning on using in the future for multiple scenes, so i'll be able to release those referencing this single scene and be sure that all the necessary resources can be found here. I know it's not ideal, but it's still better than having a resource go missing in the future and possibly have that mess up a whole scene :/
 
When hub-hosted content is "missing" is usually when it's breaking rules. Most commonly license/straight up copyrighted content (example daz imports).
It's rarely due to creators choice, but it does happen. In a way you are also taking same risk by re-releasing it.

Otherwise (if legit) content "can" still remain available for download (as reference) even if resource page was removed by creator.
There are few resources that got restored as references only (without resource page).
If something was removed by mistake you can ask mods for help, because you know... nothing is fully removed from hub anyway.

But I was asking specifically about clothes and hairstyles, those usually have 0 impact on a scene. Most scenes can work fine without hair, clothes or textures.
Funny I just noticed that you decided to reference an asset and not include it, one thing that could actually break this scene if went missing.

Anyway...
If this is the way you wanna do it, than by all means, nothing is stopping you.
Provided that you credit everyone and follow individual licenses (for example follow share-alikes if needed and don't include ND content). (y);)

You have a point with the fact that if things go missing there is probably a reason for that. I'm not 100% convinced I'll do things this way in the future, but for now I wanted to test other things around rather than the referencing itself, which would be pretty easy to change down the line if I decide to change approach.

Out of curiosity...what asset did I reference without including it? I didn't notice any error for missing reference message while creating the package :unsure:

Oh ok, yeah because my thought process was "I'm not going to use this environment in other scenes, so I'm not going to need to reference it anywhere else, and if this goes missing I can always use another environment anyway".

The thing with clothes is that sometimes you may want to do some undressing animation that only works on certain clothes so if that goes poof you basically need to redo the whole animation for a completely different outfit, which might be more of a headache than just changing a fairly generic environment for a new one.....but maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid I guess.

Also sometimes certain clothes are included in packages that also reference other stuff that is totally unnecessary so the amount of references can increase pretty quickly and get VERY intricate sometimes, and that's usually a biiiig pain in the ass, so sometimes it's just easier to extract the single file as a duplicate rather than chasing down references everywhere...but to be fair I could just trim down on a lot of fat by just doing that only on those specific clothes that have this problem, which I haven't checked exactly which are and which are not of all the different ones I've used.

Guess I have some food for thought for the future, I still have plenty of time to waste poking at all the things that could go wrong when trying to publish a functioning scene (and...oh boy, there's quite a bit of those!) while I make up my mind o_O:ROFLMAO:
