How to turn off inactive bones ?

Never happened before.

All inactive bones of the character - now are visible, -

Used to be only hip, chest, hands, feet and head visible as green squares.

How to hide them ?

It's a toggle in the main UI located here:

uncheck that and they will disappear for you

It would happen once every few months, on and off.
*Edit, but then it would be gone by itself, but now it was stuck.

there's also a button on the main UI that you're probably clicking by accident and that's probably what's causing it
