I've been running VAM with an i9 9900 and a GTX 1080TI so far. The performance in desktop mode is great and leaves nothing to be desired. However, the performance in VR mode is very bad. I'm considering buying an RTX 3090. Can someone tell me :will I have a significant gain in VR mode or is the difference not that big?

A rule of thumb is for a scene in VR to be half the FPS of the desktop's.

The first question should be: is your GPU the limiting factor?

When you say in desktop its great and in VR its not then its reasonable to say you have a GPU bottleneck.

What is your desktop and your VR resolution?
To be sure what is the problem in VR go to the settings tab, watch at the fps counter and play around with the resolution scale. If theres no difference at all, you are in a CPU limited situation.
