Did VAM or Virtual desktop On Quest change over last few months?

After a few months break from using VAM, I fired it back up over the weekend and noticed major stuttering and lag from controllers - even on simple scenes. Interaction with menus caused the same problems too. Not only was it laggy, but there was a bizarre graphic effect similar to Queens Boheium Rhapsody video - a kind of a visual echo if that makes sense.
So far I have factory reset the Quest2 and installed a new Virtual Desktop ( which fired up Steam for some reason )
I have downloaded a brand new clean VAM from Patreon and installed that on my small SSD C drive. ( previously on a HDD D drive which was fine before )

Still very laggy and glitchy on default scene. I have done nothing to my PC except install Warzone and tinker with NVidia settings.

My next move is to reinstall Windows from scratch but I want to check here before going to far.

Any clues at all? thank you for listening.

As mentioned in Discord, nothing in VaM happened since then that impacts performance, except in a positive manner.
