Hey Everyone! I've had some experience in Blender and I wanted to try my hand at making/importing clothing into this game. I've already done some research of my own and read several articles on this site about importing clothing. I know that you can use the red/black sim mapping to import a form of cloth simulation to your materials.

My current project is supposed to be studded with metal studs along the surface of the material. I figured that setting the mapping for the studs to full red would make them keep their shape but when I bring them into the Vamx Clothing Creator, it looks like someone crumpled them all up as if they were made out of paper. Am I not understanding the SIM maps or is there something else that I need to us to force items to keep their form upon import?

There are a few things in vam that can cause this.

One important thing is that the clothing importer automatically adds a smoothness iteration which can ruin the look. Once you have saved the item open up the .vaj file in notepad. It will be in custom/clothing/female(or male)/Your creator name/Your clothing item. Find the line near the to that says "smoothIterations" : "1" and set that to zero.

The sim for details really needs to be the same as the cloth surrounding it or it won't move right. The clothing needs to be one complete mesh of flowing topology or things will crush up and loose bits will fall off when simmed.

If you post some images I may be able to help more.
