I am really waiting for the male character support, as there are way too few male chars for VAM.

New UI, Morphs and Hairstyles

Hey Character Creators,

I’m excited to share a brand-new update of Character Forge!
The main focus this time was the user interface – giving it a cleaner, more intuitive look to make your character creation experience even smoother.

Here’s what’s new:

Brand-New User Interface

I redesigned the UI from the ground up!
It's now much cleaner and easier to navigate, so you can focus entirely on creating your characters – not on hunting for the right...

Reorganized global option tab, Makeup, Lipstick and more

Hey Character Creators,

Time for another update – and this one's all about the details!
I've added two new features that bring even more personality to your models:

  • Makeup
  • Lip Gloss

These options let you enhance your characters and make them stand out even more.

And there's more good news:
To give you even more creative freedom, I’ve expanded the available assets:
  • 15 Skins
  • 20 Eye Colors
  • 7 Lashes...

Could you add a way to maybe get realistic proportions like maybe 7, 7.5, 8 head options and have it auto adjust the lower body length, legs length, upper body length, body width, shoulder width, etc.? Like minimally change the look but get those heights and knee location and arm length and all that sort of stuff right?

I will pack that great idea on my roadmap!!! (y)

I appreciate it. Even things like body fat etc, are hard to make it look right. Because I and a lot of people like to merge looks, sometimes what happens is a lot of creators will either forget to adjust the head scale or multiple body morphs will make the upper length shorter giving them like a goblin like proportion. Hopefully you can figure all of that out. I think 7-8 heads of adults is deal so I think either a slider or just hard coding like 7, 7.5, & 8 is best. I appreciate you taking the time to potentially add that feature. I've been trying to use the HeightMeasure plugin but my looks never look realistic in proportions.

So I have run into a problem with this scene. I created a model oc in the scene and I forgot to save it as a appearance before closing Vam. I only saved the scene as a new scene save. But now whenever I load that scene save in it loads my new oc model but then immediately replaces it with the default model appearance there for wiping my model that I spent hours working on. So frustrating. Is there anyway for me to stop the scene from loading in the appearance default after loading the scene save? It loads in my model appearance first fine but then it just wipes it and replaces it with the default appearance attached to the scene. Could anyone help me find a solution?

Yeah, I understand what you mean. VAM Story loads defaults on loading so the person will always appear with a default setting. BUT you can try the following:

1. Open VAM:
2. Load an empty scene
3. Add a person
4. Save this (with a name you will remember!!)
5. Close VAM

Now open an texteditor (I recommend VSCode or something similar) and open your saved character forge JSON file your model was in into the text Editor.

You will find this in C:\YOUR_VAM_DIR\Saves\scene

Hit CTRL+F an search for the complete string below (with quotes and everything)
Code:
"id" : "Person"

You should find something like that:

Now COPY the WHOLE Block from the "{" above until the last "}" matching the "id": "person" block.

Tip: In VSCode you can collapse the complete section with the down arrow next to the line number (don't know if notepad++ can do this too
This should look like that after you marked it:

Now open your empty scene in the editor, look here again for the

Code:
"id" : "Person"

Mark everything like before but this time hit PASTE!
You should now have the complete Person Atom overwritten in your empty scene.

Open VAM and load the Scene and fingers crossed your Model will appear.

Can you try this out?

Did you try the "Head Scale" sliders? You can find them in the "Head" tab:

You can scale the head matching to the rest of your model. Yeah, I know this is just a rough estimate, not based on exact data, but it’s quickly achievable and adjusted by eye. Maybe after loading a model, you should load the defaults for these three sliders to get a smart starting point. I have capped them to mostly have a realistic look, so it may be possible that these sliders could help you out for now?

The Model also has the HeightMeasure Plugin activated, so feel free to activate the marks you could need for a quick win into the plugin section.

If not, this will be on my Roadmap to check further what I can do.

The development is currently a little bit stuck because of a full real life which drives me crazy :cautious:

:D Thank you very much for the guide it worked for me using Visual Studio. Saved my model as a proper appearance now. So happy I don't have to restart from scratch. Hopefully this can also help anyone else in the future who also runs into this problem. I'm so happy I didn't lose my hours of time making my model. 🥳
