Okay, so I just discovered the Unity Asset Store... I didn't know that thing existed... that's kinda cool.

Can you buy an assetbundle and then just toss it in the Custom/Assets/ directory in VaM and all works? Said with the express knowledge that it won't be reposted here or attempted to be re-sold (Naturally)

I'm asking BEFORE I spend any money there and find out it won't work :D

If it works but only with tinkering, can someone post the steps?

it needs to be built in Unity 2018.1.9 to work, link in the WIKI

But yes all the stuff in the unity store can be used in VAM

As said by Matt, using the correct Unity version and the correct project settings is crucial.

Literally any object you can get into your Unity scene can be exported as an assetbundle (if you use the right version of unity which is crucial).
I have downloaded a load of free random assets and bundled them up, check my resources here.
It's actually not a hard process at all and once you've done it a few times it will go quick as anything.
