• Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.
Important note: those are not Unity assets, but XPS files that can be loaded using a plugin. Please read the "How to use" section.

What is this?
Ever wished to add creatures into your scenes? That you can pose? In great numbers without overloading your computer? Oooh, you'll be happy, then.

Those are 2 collections of XPS files that can be imported into VAM & posed, thanks to XPSLoader plugin:
  • Animals
  • Monsters
None of the animals have genitals... but some of the monsters do!

Animals collection:
You've got no less than 36 models.

The demo scene doesn't have all models included: to reduce the loading time and because some are only color variations of the same model (horse & gorilla).

Those additional screenshots have been made using Forest 3 by @Damarmau.

Monster collection:
You've got 21 models included.

1657713163.png

And the beauty of it: there is no noticeable FPS impact despite the great number of models!
Look on the top left corner for FPS (numbers will vary depending on your configuration, of course). This is the result for both full collections with 2 lights:

How to use
You'll need to load XPS files using "XPSLoader" plugin by imakeboobies.

How to load the XPS files:
  1. Add an "Empty" atom to a scene
  2. Go to its "Plugins" tab and click on "Add Plugin" button and then the "Select File..." button
  3. Browse to "imakeboobies.XPSLoader" package and select the "XPSLoader.cslist" file
  4. Click on the "Open Custom UI..." button to open up the plugin interface
  5. Click on the "Select XNALara File" button
  6. Browse to this package and select a ".XPS" or ".MESH" file from any folder.
Here's a demo video by imakeboobies, on how to add into your scene and how to play with IK.

How to pose & change clothing:
Once a character is loaded, you can pose them and depending on the model you can change their clothing.
  1. Select the character you want to edit and go to its "Plugin" tab
  2. Click on the "Open Custom UI..." button of the XPSLoader plugin
  3. To pose: On the very bottom of the left column, select the part of the body you want to pose in the "Select a Bone" list. Then you can play with "Bone Rotation" sliders that will appear under this.
  4. To edit the clothing: Using the right column of the plugin UI, (un-)tick the item you want to display or hide. Some fur/hairs can be removed on some animals & monsters, as it may look funny depending on the lighting.

Known issues:
There are some issues linked to the XPSLoader plugin:
  • Some XPS characters cannot be posed: there is one in the "Animals" collection (the wolf, its name includes "Non posable") and there are 3 in the "Monsters" collection (Sylph, Jill & Nurse). If you edit any bone, this XPS file won't load the next time you load your scene and an error will be triggered.
  • Models can be animated using triggers (edited bones are trigger-able), but the animations won't work the next time you load your scene.
  • XPS files or packages including XPS files won't be referenced when packaging a scene using them (through XPSLoader plugin). So those packages won't appear as dependencies. Workaround: add any atom with editable textures into your scene and load any texture from the "XPS collection" package that you use. This will "force" the dependency.
More info over there.

Dependencies & thanks
No dependencies, except XPSLoader for the demo.

All the content included here has been originally created by various XPS creators who can be found on Deviantart:
  • aleksiszet
  • ArmachamCorp
  • Chrissy-Tee
  • dddkhakha1
  • diegoforfun
  • jorn_k_nightmane

Right... So I followed the little 6-step for how to add the creatures into a scene. Worked for most files I tried at this period of time. However, when I got into the dogo-files, pretty much any dog loaded into scene with broken and glitched textures.

This is not broken: it is due to the XPS files. Sometimes the textures are inverted: there is an option within XPSLoader plugin to flip all textures. You should toggle that.
Check the demo scene: you'll see that all dogs are ok when this option is on.
Please use the "Discussion" tab to report alleged bugs ;)

I'm so glad someone is getting good use out of the XPS loader! These are the kinds of models that totally break what's possible with the default VAM models. Now I just need to find some time and finish my obj and dson loader and maybe even fix some bugs. :)

Totally! It's really cool to be able to easily pose such complex assets, with additional legs or jaw parts :)
Huge thanks to you and best of luck with those scripts!
