VR Comfort now works when VaM runs through SteamVR, whatever your headset: with VRComfortHelper.dll, a BepInEx plugin, the thumbstick scrolls your menus, the grip steadies the pointer and the controllers tick and pulse, as they already did on Oculus.

If you launch VaM through SteamVR, install the helper once -> [BepInEx] VR Comfort v2 Helper for SteamVR.zip, unzipped into your VaM folder (not AddonPackages).

On Oculus, or on a headset that runs VaM through Oculus compatibility instead of SteamVR, just update the var.

Heads Up
  • SteamVR needs the helper. When VaM runs through SteamVR, Thumbstick Scroll, Precision Grip and Haptic Feedback need VRComfortHelper.dll, which ships beside the var on the Patreon release post. It is a BepInEx plugin, so BepInEx 5.4 x64 must already be installed in your VaM folder. On Oculus, and on headsets that run VaM through Oculus compatibility, nothing extra is needed. Everything else works on SteamVR without it.

New Features
  • Full SteamVR support. Thumbstick Scroll, Precision Grip and Haptic Feedback now work on SteamVR, each hand on its own, as on Oculus.
  • A clearer Status card. Where the rows read "Oculus only" on SteamVR, they now name what stands in the way on an amber warning ("needs helper", "update helper", "helper idle", "no grip" or "no haptics"), and an amber banner above them says what to do. Working features get a green dot.

Adjustments
  • Precision Grip lets go at once. When you let go of the grip the pointer follows your hand at full speed straight away, and only the small offset the grip left fades out; before, a quick sweep right after a still grip trailed behind your hand.

Bugfixes
  • Index trackpad scrolling. Scrolling a list with the Index trackpad now makes Button Assist let go, as scrolling with the stick does, so it no longer holds on to a button while the list moves.
  • Button Assist in plugin panels. With CustomUIPanelResizer loaded, the buttons in plugin panels (VR Comfort's own included) no longer pulled the pointer; they do again, and a window's dimmed backdrop still keeps the page behind it from pulling.

Thank you for every report that shaped this release, and enjoy VR Comfort on whichever headset you use!
