Paid Plugins MMD VMD Player

OKAY. After a VERY long time of wondering, I can now finally review this resource.

Truth be told, this is absolutely a five-star plugin in practice (at least at time of writing, after a long stretch of updates), but there's just no getting around how sketch-feeling actually GETTING the plugin is. VaM admins have had to put up a banner regarding just how deep into your files this modification goes, in ways that makes them (and me) uncomfortable. No other plugin, aside from maybe the dev-approved vamX, seems to modify the base application so deeply, and you're even required to give a license for your individual machine just to obtain full-access. With VaM itself costing only $8, and said full-access to this costing $20, all that mess has left many people in consternation over time, and it drops a star just for that. It's also worth noting that that's a high monthly cost just to support continued updates after initial purchase, which I have been (perhaps overly) critical of elsewhere on this site.

HOWEVER! That does not stop this plugin from being fan-fucking-tastic in operation, and props to the author because I can say from personal experience zhfx themselves is actually very keen on providing users support (even without the special "extra support" tier). More importantly, the plugin itself blows the old VaMVMDPlugin I used to use so far out of the water you could shoot at it a few more times in the air for target practice.

I was very specifically waiting until getting my 4090/i9-13900k rig to take the dive on this plugin, and after some initial techincal hiccups I can say it was so very worth it, even at $20. The most important part of this plugin is that it is actively tweaking VMD files to fit your scene/chara, and while you have minimal ability to affect that on the user end, it does such a good job that you don't even need to think about it. This has been GODLIKE and has actually restored many motions to usability for me that were simply too jank on the free VaMVMDPlugin, or more often just had one jank sequence that broke the immersion. While I haven't tested out it's ability to more natively interact with other VaM components, it can lord that over free alternatives as well.

So yeah, I'll probably always be just a little uneasy while rocking this mod, no question about it, but I'm only a few clicks away from the kind of perfect VMD bliss that'll make me forget all over again.

First you make the plugin "regular" price 20$, then when you realize it's not going your way, you "lower" it to 5$ for the lowest tier. Pretty nice, only that you are only going to give the keys after a month (four weeks!), making it effectively the same as the other tier where due to how Patreon works, you end up paying 10$! Nice move, but I'm gonna have to call you out on this one, because that's some real bullshit there...

Giving out 'discounts' but making people wait four weeks for a license?! The only reason to do that is to squeeze more money out of people who don't pay attention to your Patreon tier structure. Pretty scummy dude...

I just want to make it clear for people are reading his "forever" claim of the license.

For VaM, you pay for a month and get a key for the current version. Back it up and you will have a piece of software that will still work 20 years from now with compatitble hardware. That's forever.

For this plugin, you will need to either use the same exact 20-year-old pc that you have now, or cross your fingers that he would reply to you with a new license for your shiny new computer. One year, two years... from now, I doubt that he would still be around each time you buy a new pc and want that "forever" plugin to work. He can just decide to pull the plug and stop responding at anytime and there is nothing you can do about it.

This is really awesome, and something that I think a lot of people have been wanting in VAM for a while. The patreon price is excessive though, it's charging nearly 50% more than VAM itself for just a plugin! It's hard to give a rating higher just because of the cost. The plugin itself is great, and having finger tracking adds something that's missing from nearly all VAM scenes. Please reconsider your pricing though.

If you want your girls dancing in just a few simple clicks, this is the way to go about it. There is a lot of free MMD files with music to load into it on YouTube. I honestly didn't even know what the hell MMD was until I looked into this plugin. ZHFX responded almost instantly with my user key to get this up and running in no time at all. I did have some issues though but that was due to my Norton Antivirus deleting a file as I installed. Just for others to know you may have to disable your antivirus to do the install. Other then that it works great and I love it. Well worth it, Thanks ZHFX!

I think it is one of the best plugins I have seen, and vam should acquire it as an official plugin

Amazing plug-in and responsive dev! I've been hoping to play MMD files since the early days of VAM, and here it is!
The price is definitely steeper than other plugins but it's well worth it if this is what you're looking for.
Looking for motion files may be jarring to those unfamiliar with MMD. So I think it would be nice if the dev included a sample pack of motion + audio or a sample scene to get people started.
Due to the 1.20 update, there are a few bugs, but the dev has been quite helpful in troubleshooting and seems to be working on fixes to be released soon.
The dev plans on adding new features, and have done so already. I just hope that they keep it up!

This plugin seems great! And honestly I don't mind the price. However, as someone who does a clean Windows install every few months, there is no point getting this plugin since it will make my license invalid.

I would love to support this plugin but there needs to be a way to have a license that you can transfer between PC's or windows reinstalls.

It seems to be tweaking in the background, which is great. RenderToMovie is God!

Not a favorable impression. Invariably, there is an error in activating the plugin and you have to present him with all the information to resolve it. I have done this three times.
It doesn't matter if other users have no problems or if this is my only case. This is my review.
