Download [<1 MB]
A custom shader for woven fabrics / satin / silk that allows for varying levels of sheen and softness

How to use:

This is a Custom Shader which must be loaded using one of the following plugins:
The simplest way to try it out is to load the CustomShaderLoader plugin on a Person atom directly, load the Satin_Shader assetbundle and its shader properties, and select the cloth to receive the effect in the Loader plugin.

Demo:

Supported VAM properties (in Customize Cloth UI)
  • _Specular
  • _Shininess (Gloss) -> Maps to _Sheen a new overall sheen / specular intensity multiplier.
  • _Fresnel
  • _Alpha
  • _Colors, _Textures, etc.

New Shader Properties (in CustomShaderLoader plugin)
  • _AnisotropyDirection – rotate the anisotropy axis between tangent and bitangent.
  • _Anisotropy (-1 … +1) – stretch of the highlight.
  • _Smoothness (0-1) – primary roughness control (multiplied by gloss texture).
  • _Translucency - Controls how far light can pass through the cloth (1 = more translucent)
  • _BackLightAttenuation - Related to Translucency, determines how much light is allow to wrap around
  • _Edge Opacity - Useful for semi-transparent clothes to simulate a more opaque edge effect
  • _Edge Power - Related to Edge Opacity, how strong the edge effect will be (0 = strong)

Known Limitations:
  • The shader does not cast shadow.
  • If the effect is not strong enough, removing the Gloss and Specular textures may help, and use a Gloss value greater than zero as well as a color.
Note: this was AI assisted, there could be other issues
