Synergy (modified) - Same plugin, bugs fixed

🔧 Synergy 3.4: Community Fix Build

Original plugin by via5. This build fixes long-standing bugs; it doesn't add new features.
original post here for details about what it does - https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/synergy.4274/

🛑 Disabling steps actually works now
  • Fixed: a disabled step kept applying its effect. You'd see a morph frozen at its last value, or a force/torque that kept holding a hand or arm so you couldn't...

Dragontales updated Synergy (modified) with a new update entry:

Tweaks and Patches

What’s new since version 5

🆕 Name your steps
  • There’s now a “Step name” box at the top of the Step tab. Give a step a name and it shows up in the step dropdown, the header, and the Monitor — so it’s easy to tell steps apart once you have a lot of them.
  • Leave the box blank to keep the normal “Step 1, Step 2…” names.
  • Names save with your scene. (This works in older versions too if you ever open the scene there — nothing...

Hi! have a question, but first:

THANK you for giving option to rename Steps. :) Because of this, Loaded this right away.
Use your Thrusts (and bodytriggers) all the time, and this just adds that extra level of detail for so many things.

I did have a head-scratching moment how to re-name, but then remembered that before, how VAM/unity is a bit different in so far as NOT anything showing that you're actually in text box and it's waiting for you. So click on seemingly greyed out Step 1, and just start typing, and all good.

Also had a head-scratcher how to trigger the steps, as spoiled by so many plugIns with easier to manage presets.
Reading their wiki, realized didn't just have to save various, but have to click animatble 2x different places, and can see rigidbodies in Manage Animatables. This is a heavy plugin, but worth the reward.
So doubly Thank you for updating all this!

Question:
(1) any idea of best performance practices (not lose FPS)?
Do you make many steps and then load all the steps you need for that one anim?
Or make one step with bunch of modifiers, and then just load that step.
Was thinking presets to combine steps, but didn't see my Save ALL preset in Triggerables - just indiv saved steps, so guessing that's not an option?)
Trying to avoid a lengthy trial & error period.

Any XP or best guesses/best practices?

Hi. Glad you were able to figure out the renaming. I agree that Unity is a bit funky at times. I can see if there's a way to propagate the name as soon as you make it. Not sure though. And yes, unfortunately the steps to make something triggerable require a couple things. This plugin is large...it has a LOT of things going on all at the same time. Plus you can add as many steps and whatnot as desired. So making them all triggerable all the time is just not feasible. As for best practices, I basically make a step setup for each pose that I'm trying to match motion on. I have a few extra steps that have some morph stuff going on for bringing the face to life. So If I have one sex setup, the sex is animated with my AutoThrusterPlus plugin, but I make a step with various modifiers (legs, arms, etc) for random motion with Synergy. I keep toying with the idea of adding more nodes into AutoThrusterPlus so it's all in one place, but Synergy works pretty well now with the bugs fixed so I may just leave it.

Let me know if that answers your question. :)
