I think it would be a massive usability improvement if the search results page when searching for resources would look like when you click on the resources button. You know, with the two columns of resources, big icon & little thumbnails of the images the author included.
As it is, we have these squashed rows, and cropped and squashed images and a whole lot of empty space to the right of each result. You have to click on every image to get a good look at it. Not great when you have pages and pages of results. The skinny rows format for results makes sense when searching through forums where you're interested in the text, but the bread and butter of VaM is visual. I think the search results pages for resources ought to reflect that. That's all! Thanks for considering.

I hear you, but keep in mind the search system also allows "everything" searches which include resources, media, forum posts, etc. Although it might be possible to display a different page setup when searching for resources only, there's a couple problems there.
1. It would be unnecessarily complex and may degrade search performance
2. It would require a complete overhaul of the search system, since by default the resource search can include update posts as a search option, and since those are forum posts they would not display the same as a resource post.

The current system allows for all types of search results in a uniform style.
We have, in the past, added resource image galleries to the results by request to help provide some additional information not normally available in search results.
Do you have the "Display image attachments for resources" box checked? If a resource has any images, this box will display those images in your search results.

OK OK after constructing a huge post making my case for a dedicated resource browser, one hour later, I realized you already have one! It's just missing the one function I would like.

Just one more field in the search filters! A text string that will search the titles or contents of the resources.
Something kinda like this?

Might be late to be asking VaM Santa for stuff now but maybe next Christmas hey? 😅

Sorry - filters and search are two separate things.

The point is you do have an existing better template for displaying resources, but no way to search them and display results using that template.
