Farger submitted a new resource:

Twister - the power of nature viewed from afar

This is a simple demonstration scene of a tornado "twister" as it travels across a large empty field. I made this scene since the twister effect is large and complex, so it shows how to set it up. I have made quite a number of scenes that are inspired by film or music, these scenes are rather simple, such scenes are just aimed at replicating an atmosphere associated with film and music.

This effect works through a series of sub-emitters. Sub-emitters are particles that are activated by an action of another particle. For example, when one particle no longer exists or "dies," it can be replaced by another particle effect. This is how firework effects commonly work. A firework would have the rocket that launches upwards, then when that particle dies, it is replaced by streaming particles flying outward, and then the streamer particles could spawn glittering sparkling effects. This twister is the same principle. The parent particle is not visible, it moves slowly across the ground for a 6-minute sequence and then restarts at the initial point again. This parent particle spawns the dust particles going upward, and then those particles spawn large cloud particles at the top. The tornado is constantly refreshing itself, at times it can be nearly 11,000 particles. Most particle effects do not have much impact on framerates, but when the particle numbers exceed 2,000 this commonly is the point that negatively impacts framerates. The picture below shows the Unity project, it shows less than 4,000 particles because when I took the image I did not select all stages of the particle effect.

I tried this and all I saw were flashes of balls of light. I looked at the animation and it just looped over and over. I never saw the tornado form.

Hi. Do you have all the dependencies installed? The lightning effect comes with the scene, but some things are linked to dependencies, such as the tornado. The tornado effect is linked to Farger's Particle Pack Vol. and it has to be the most recent version, version 6, since the tornado was not included in the initial versions. I will ask a few other people to verify if the tornado is working for them.

I checked it looks like I have them all, the scene animation is only about 15 secs and I see the popping bright lights. 1675956171.jpg When you say the particle pack is linked, where do I look to confirm it. That could be it.

I do see particle pack volume 1.latest in the references in the package, it is NOT red, I looked in the installed packages and it looks like it is 1.5, where do I get 6?

1.6 is posted on the hub, it will download when you go to link in asset section. I asked another person to check, he said it was under the ground. I am sorry, i dont know what happened, it works for me, but there must be some issue. I will remove the scene. Thank you for letting me know.
