Subsurface Scattering Skin & Better Soft Shadows (Out Of Beta)

Paid Plugins Subsurface Scattering Skin & Better Soft Shadows (Out Of Beta)

Does this work with plugins that hide characters? I use a plugin that hides character textures, inorder to have an intersex character. I have an older version of this from August 2022, but the moment I add that version of this plugin to my scene, it forces all the hidden textures back to a visible state. I can't find any work around for it. Has this been resolved already, I checked through various update logs but didn't see any mention of it?

@Hunting-Succubus
I'm using this plugin on Person Atom and seeing very periodic frame drops and 0.5s stutters in the game.
I have RTX 4080 with 16GB vram and 32GB system ram so doubt out of memory is an issue. Also started the game fresh to check the frame rate drop.
Below graph shows frame rate (locked to max 90), having very regular drops after a fixed time. After some time, I removed the plugin and the frame drops went away as shown in the graph. Any idea what's causing this or possible fixes?

I really wanted to subscribe to the patreon, but you've set the renewal every first day of the month. So it's not very convenient for new user, if i pay now i ll have to pay again in 9 days.
Can you switch your patreon settings so it ll do 1 payment for the day you subscrire that end 30 days later ?

Doesn't seem to work with hide features correctly (at least for me). For example hiding the lacrimal material won't actually hide the material anymore while the subsurfacescattering plugin is enabled. I hope it will receive an update in the future to ignore hidden materials/shaders.

@Hunting-Succubus
Can you implement a feature, that only applies your sessionplugin to females?
In scenes with many personatoms, this can cost alot of fps. Would be nice to disable male persons with this as a sessionplugin.

i had this exact same issue and the only solution was to not use the plug-in, sadly

Body parts which are supposed to be hidden ignore the HIDE button due to being overlayed by SSS. Is there any way to fix this? Things like lacrimals need to be hidden for some morphs. An update would be great which automatically doesn't apply SSS to anything which has hide enabled.

Wait, so does this mean stuff like SupaRioAmateur Layered 8k nips and other Skin tight Clothing that use alpha's no longer have issues? If so I feel like I'm starting to hear Music from Aladdin, cuzz "It's a Whole New World."

EDIT: Just Tested out the new release. It doesn't unfortunately. The Flickering is removed, but the alpha still looks bad.

Would it be possible to include a way in the plugin, to assign a clothing item that gets included in the SSS? Or even just 'Color Affect Direct' Because thats the slider you have to turn down inorder to get rid of the defect.

that will require cloth support and alpha texture blending make it more complicated. maybe in future.

i will add toggle for this.

There is appears to be quite a serious memory leak with this plugin. When enabled my heap size in vam is going up about 300mb per second. this eventually causes VAM to do a garbage collection and cause VAM to freeze momentarily.

Can you please investigate and resolve? Just have a look at the performance2 tab while your plugin is active!

This plugin is a necessity to increase the render quality of my Looks. However, I have been trying to use it with passthrough on the Quest 3 and am running into an issue where it is incorporating the camera color I use for passthrough transparency with Camera Background Color and I'm wondering if there is a way to turn this off.

Specifically, if I set the Camera Background Color to the bright green (0,255,0) in the plugin's sample photo, my Look has a bright green glow around their hair and limbs of bright green from SSS, which interferes with immersion within the AR environment. Is there a way to make SSS ignore the Camera Background Color and only sample from lighting and textures?

i will try that plugin and see if anything can be done to fix this.
