Took a little break but now I'm back and going to be releasing a few more updates. There are a few cool features already implemented while I was waiting till this update gets approved, they'll make it into the next release, like support for hub bookmarks and favorites.

Implemented this, will be released in the next version

You mean you want hair from dependency packages to be visible? The only way to do that is to disable auto hide entirely. If you want some specific "hair pack" then you can promote this package from dependency to a regular package. Alternatively, you can go to content browser -> select hair category -> select all -> click unhide, but you'll need to do this every time you install new stuff which is a hassle.

It can't detect thumbnails for your scenes. Do they have thumbnail files next to them?
I have the same issue but i know why.

if the *.var is in a subfolder then the manager can't show the picture (if you try to browse the file of the package you have your answer)
Here an example : my .var is in a subfolder by creator ( so in AddonPackages\Wunderwise\*.var)

I just forked it and edited the code. i can push a PR if you want. All good either way

Oh I just noticed I already have a few PRs, are those yours? Will review them after I deal with performance bug I found yesterday.
If not yours - sure you can submit PRs too, those are welcome, as long as it takes less effort to review them then giving the task to AI agent and reviewing its code. Ideally if it's self contained small and simple changes.
And your VAR compatibility issue was already fixed as I mentioned in the last response, just not released yet as I'm testing a bunch of changes before release.

poma updated VaM Backstage - your library manager with a new update entry:

Subfolder support and other improvements

  • Link packages to the Hub: Packages missing from the public index, like paid ones, now get matched to the Hub automatically, and you can link any package to its Hub page yourself with "Link to Hub..." in the right-click menu.
  • Packages in subfolders: Packages organized into subfolders now show up and behave like any other instead of being skipped, and offload directories can now live inside VaM's Saves folder, such as the one BrowserAssist offloads to.
  • Browse the Hub without losing your place...

Client-server mode and wishlist

  • Use your library from other devices: New client-server mode lets a second computer on your network connect to your main library and browse, download, and manage packages remotely. Set it up in Settings.
  • Wishlist for Hub packages: Pin packages you want to grab later, right from Hub cards or the details panel, then browse them in the new Wishlist tab with its own search, filters, and sorting. Wishlisted packages stay visible even if they disappear from the Hub.

I have a few suggestions:
- Filter by folder, I keep all my vars in folders by author and if its mine or a dependency. A way to set a directory tree as mine or as dependencies would be great
- Install dependencies in a specific folder and not just the addons folder
- Move vars to another folder option, for both selection singular vars
- Duplicate Vars finder
- Quick reveal in explorer option

I would suggest looking into Symlinks/Hardlinks for the following suggestions, so instead of copying it would be a link to the original file instead.

Here are some suggestions on improving offloaded vars:
- An option of copy specific folders of vars from offload directories
- An option to copy required deps from offload directories
- Allow configuration of folders to copy to/from, so I could copy to AddonPackages\Deps or AddonPackages\Author
- On copy specific folder, an option to additionally copy the required deps
