Trying to save a scene character into a present appearance but look keeps changing.

I have purchased some Patreon downloads from very talented artists, except I want to use the characters in my own scenes and be able to switch out generic characters using them. However, the characters that i purchased come as 'scenes' and not ' apperances'. Initally I thought it was just the CUA (hairs etc) that disappeared, but I have since mastered the CUA challenge using CUA Manager, except that its not just CUA that get lost when i save some scene characters to present appearances/ looks. There physical form changes too. I cant figure out what i am missing. Any suggestions? i loaded my preset save into the original characters scene and tried to find difference, but there is no obvious morph changes...
