Well man, as already I said before, I'm not able to copy looks from real people, and I won't even try :p
Anyway, I can help you telling about my workflow.

I usually start from the skin. Pick a texture you like and start from there.
Then you have two choices: build the body first or the face first. I don't have an exact rule here, I just let it flow.
Try experimenting with almost any morph slider, use VAM as a canvas. Look at your creation from various angle, even try different lighting.
Things will soon start to become better. The more you play with those sliders, the more confidence you'll build.
Start with coarse values, then fine tune to your liking. I guarantee that results will come, soon or after.
