PoseConvert @Evo
EasyPose BioRigs @AppetiteVisual

Can someone with familiarity with these two plugins do a simple "For Dummies" quick guide, demonstration or explanation?

I've thoroughly read through/watched everything posted from the Creators but I'm left scratching my head. I'm still unclear as to what these plugins are supposed to do. Maybe "EasyPose" is just a name? But that's probably not right, it probably does make posing easier, I just don't get it.

I've loaded them in VaM and followed the instructions but nothing happens. I manually posed the person atom. What about these plugins makes any difference?

Let's say I want to make a simple doggystyle pose. What about these plugins "Converts" the pose or makes the pose "Easy"?

Sorry that I don't understand, and thank you for any help.

Totally understandable! It took many, many hours playing around in VaM to get my head around this as well.

AppetiteVisual made some awesome configurations for the joint controls (a 'rig') so that the physics is much more manageable to pose with a mouse & keyboard. Try out the other demo scene which is where I first started to understand how they work too.

These are saved in the poses in the BioRigs package and the scenes that are included. But there wasn't a good way in VaM to use that config in another scene. Without PoseConvert, you'd have to load the pose preset with the rig you want and then repose the model. I wanted to just apply the control config and keep the control positions as close as possible to the original, so that's why I made the plugin.

Pretty much as soon as I load any pose I go ahead and convert it so I can do any adjustments. I never really learned how to animate without the BioRigs, it was way too tedious and easy to explode from over constrained controls.

If you want to see the difference between default and the BioRigs:
  • Load the default T pose
  • Grab the neck control and move it until the model gets stuck because the other joints constrain it
  • Load the default T pose again
  • Load PoseConvert Session and load one of the BioRigs (like this)
  • Select the Person Atom and apply a new rig
  • Grab the neck control again and watch how much more fluid the movements are.

PoseConvert isn't actually dependent on the BioRigs, you could load any configuration from a pose preset and apply it using the plugin.

Control links are also broken when the name of the person atom changes and you load a pose preset, which is pretty whack. That's not an issue when loading it with PoseConvert.

The other big thing I needed the plugin for was so that it would be possible to transition between animations that use different joint configs, edit the animation, and play again. That change in control config is what happens if you check 'Apply Pose on Transition' in Timeline. Doing that teleports the model reloads hair and cloth sim, not great for a transition. When loading rig options in the PoseConvert Atom plugin and triggering from timeline, it makes it this possible. I'm sure there will be quirks with some scenarios, but it's worked really well so far for my usages.

Hope that helps
