This is just a quick policy update to our Content Standards guide, covering the following topics:
Advertising, Marketing, and Branded Content
Third-party brands.
If your content depicts a real brand (a soda logo on a t-shirt, for example), we assume you have permission to use it that way. Takedown notices from a legitimate brand owner regarding misuse of their assets can result in restrictions on your account, up to and including a ban. If you're unsure whether you may use a third-party brand, ask staff in a support ticket.
No advertising through content.
Content whose purpose is to advertise or drive sales for a paid product or service will be removed. Releasing a free clothing item carrying a logo that advertises your paid app is advertising, not content. Linking your own paid VaM content from a paid resource, as permitted by the paid resource rules, is not.
VaM content only.
The Hub is a repository for content made with Virt-A-Mate. Resources and accounts may not be used to market products or services that are not themselves VaM content, even if they can be used alongside VaM. This includes, but is not limited to: adult video sites, adult toys and devices, voice acting or commission services, and content-generation tools for other formats or platforms. Accounts used for this kind of marketing will be banned.
No alternative VaM marketplaces.
You may use general creator platforms (Patreon, SubscribeStar, Ko-fi, etc.) to deliver your paid content, as covered by the paid resource rules. What is not allowed is promoting a site or service built to sell, host, or distribute VaM content from multiple creators — in other words, an alternative to the Hub. Resources that function as, or advertise, such a marketplace will be removed.
Hub non-competition.
Resources and creator accounts may not be used to promote products or platforms that compete with MeshedVR, Virt-A-Mate, or the Hub. Tools and services that exist to create content for VaM are welcome; a product that becomes a general-purpose tool unrelated to VaM, or a substitute for VaM or the Hub, may not be promoted here. Violations result in removal of the content and may result in a ban.
