If you care about your Work first make it stable then release it very very simple

10000 updates makes you look like a fool and mostly shows your don't care about your work or are not willing to invest enough time and resources inside of it and only want to waste others resources.

also it let people think you only do it to show that you do anything at all.

Most updates are to expand or improve existing content, ocassionaly to fix a problem that wasn't found earlier.
What kind of resources are you talking about? Much more problematic are resources that are abandoned with no updates.
