You can't select multiple atoms at once, but you can physics link a bunch of atoms to one central atom, then move that central atom to drag them all along.
For furniture arrangements and such, you might want to add a "subscene" atom (use the toolbar button that looks like a flag, or add atom>misc>subscene).
The advantage is that once you've parent linked a bunch of stuff to a subscene, you can then save that subscene, and the arrangement can then be loaded into whatever scene you want.
