for reference, Im using a custom body morph just as a preset for a character i want to make. I can change most of the body with sliders, but im having trouble with the belly/abdomen area. It has this sack/kangaroo pouch situation going on and i want to edit it a bit to be rounder. I cant find the sliders for it tho to change it in the way i want... somewhat of the same situation for the love handles, i found a default slider that reduces the size of the love handles, but doesnt get rid of the general shape of it. Do i really need to just zero everything and start from scratch or can i just edit this body to save some time and effort?

When you combine various morphs into a custom body morph, all information about the various morphs that were used to make it vanishes. You can't go back. This is the downside of custom body morphs.

Damn, i figured that was the case. but is it possible to just mess with sliders until i get my desired result? even if i dont have the information for what sliders was used in the morph, i could still theoretically change the shape of this belly if i fish for the right sliders on the hub right?

Besides trying to find the right morphs to adjust it, you have two further options:

You can create a "counter" morph in Blender for the part you don't want. It is a little bit trial and error to get it right, i usually end up with up to five morphs just to adjust things after weeks of slider mangling :D

But there is even an easier method: use the two morph sculpt plugins by Skynet and Mxx. Mxx's MorphSculptor even has a "to base" brush:

New: Reset to Base brush
Fades the brushed area back to the default Genesis 2 shape, undoing the character's own morphs in that spot so you can re-sculpt from a clean base. Shift fades toward the base mesh, Space returns to the character's shape. This can be useful for things like fixing bad neck seams. Keep in mind that morphs made this way only fit the character they were made on.

The base brush can be problematic if your morphs are very different to the genesis 2 shape of course. But you can remove your bulges just with the flatten brush. There is also a smooth brush.
