Index controllers not recognized

I cannot get the the game to recognize index controllers, I've tried the recent official build as well as the beta and downgraded steam VR but had no luck, and I've messed with the user preferences and prefs file to make sure that the hands are enabled. They show up in other games so I don't think it's anything on my end. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Never mind, I fixed this by installing VaM outside of the root directory like another thread suggested, odd but glad it works!
