Hi there,
I previously used FaceGen in the past, with mixed results.
I don't know much about 3D applications and file formats, so apologies if this is a stupid question - I was wondering if it's possible to use the various mobile phone scanning apps that exist (eg: https://3dinsider.com/3d-scanning-apps/ and https://www.aniwaa.com/buyers-guide/3d-scanners/best-3d-scanning-apps-smartphones/) to scan someones face and output the wire mesh in a format that can be converted into morph settings that VAM can consume?

Is this possible? Or is it too hard?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

its very possible but wont get very good results. you are better off with a camera, reality capture, and zbrush to clean it and wrap it.

A lot of tools can create a 3d model from a photo, but converting that to a DAZ morph is the hard part. Facegen is probably still the best bet (and free if you're using the demo). There are things you can do to improve the output: Hunting for a quality photo, removing shadows and flattening light in photoshop before running facegen, cleaning up texture after, doing additional sculpting in Zbrush, fine-tuning other morphs in VAM, etc.
