I recently joined a creator Patreon ( @AWAKENING ) and want to download some scenes directly through VaM. This has worked very well for all sorts of free content. It nicely downloads everything I need and puts into the correct folders whi8lde queuing the remaining downloads. Very good system.

My problem is that now that I am clicking on a paid scene link and the download button now says "Go To Download" and takes me to a Patreon sign in page. I am not able to sign in on this page. I put in my email and when I click continue, nothing happens.

Do have to download everything directly from the creators links using an external browser and then move the files to the correct folders? What about dependencies?

Is there a way to make this work as well as it does for the free content?

You can't use the in-game browser to download paid content. The browser is old, and insecure. You have to download paid content outside the game, using a regular browser. That's just the way it is.

You will need to use a modern, secure browser to navigate to Patreon and get the Paid VAR files from the creator. You will manually copy those to the addonpackages folder in your VaM installation folder.

Then, when you load the game, you will go to the package manager and select "scan hub for missing packages". This will automatically download any dependencies for your newly added VAR.

Note that if any dependencies are not available on the Hub, they will not auto-download. The creator of the Paid content should let you know if there are any additional dependencies required that might not be available on the Hub.

Thanks for the clarification. Is there any initiative to improve this in the future or in VaM2? Its just a bummer that moving to paid content is actually a downgrade for the user experience.

Well, the built-in browser is called Hub browser.
I would expect that VAM2 will have some form of Hub-centred browser too, and anything outside that scope would be left for a regular web browser. Even if it would work for a while, things change quickly and not much benefit using development time on non-hub website compatibility.

This has nothing to do with the user experience in game. The hub cannot host paid content. That was a deliberate choice. Any assets that have to be downloaded from Patreon have to be done outside the game. Yes, it makes installing paid content a little tricky, but the creators who sell content that way will almost always provide support. You just have to get used to installing paid content manually.
