i am very new here. i just got the software from steam and I want to install custom vam models, but how do I do that? how do I also run the game in VR as I have a valve index?

Once you get VaM for real check the FAQ pinned on the forum or the Wiki on the top menu. There you can find links to tutorials to get the basics of this sandbox.
